This will be our first full week of the countdown to Christmas!
After-school activities this week:
Tues., Dec. 5 - Junior Optimist Club Meeting
Wed., Dec. 6 - Robotics Team Practice
Our Winter Program will take place on Wed., Dec. 20th at South Vermillion High School. Our program is winter-themed and much of our music pertains to snow, so we are asking students to wear winter colors such as light blue or white.
K-2 students will report to the following rooms no later than 5:15 PM.
Kindergarten - room C-23.
1st grade - band room.
2nd grade - choir room.
K-2 students will perform at 5:30 PM.
Students in grades 3-4 will report to the following rooms no later than 6:45 PM.
3rd grade - band room.
4th grade - choir room.
Grades 3 and 4 will perform at 7:00 PM.

SVHS Cheer Clinic information was emailed today. Forms and payment are due Dec. 8th.
The South Vermillion Community School Corporation will host the "Wildcat Winter Wonderland", a community event, this Sunday evening, December 3rd, from 4:00 - 7:00 at South Vermillion High School. Parking will be on the south end of the main student parking lot on the east side of the high school. The SVMS and SVHS band, choir, and dance teams will be performing throughout the evening. There will be a variety of activities set up for the whole family: Santa Claus and a live reindeer will be available for pictures, s'more roasting, hot chocolate and pastries, a coloring tent hosted by The National Honor Society, and a variety of vendors will be set up as well. At the conclusion of the evening, we will light up the season with a tree lighting ceremony in front of the high school. The event is FREE, but donations will be accepted for our arts programs! We hope to see you there!
*If the weather does not cooperate, we will move the event inside.
Don't forget that picture retake day is this Friday morning. The photographer should be ready to start taking photos at 8:00 a.m.

Please write a note to let the photographer know your student's name, package ordered with confirmation # and the background color you prefer.
4th grade boys basketball practice is cancelled today. Unless we hear otherwise, the boys will go home the way they normally do.
The "Countdown to Christmas" begins this Friday, December 1st at Van Duyn! Students are bringing home a copy of the attached calendar with our themed dress-up days for the month of December. We hope the students enjoy the month and have fun celebrating the countdown to Christmas.

Thanksgiving Break begins at 2:35 today! We are out of school on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. School resumes on Monday, November 27th. The Van Duyn Elementary Staff wishes our Viking families a safe and relaxing break and a Happy Thanksgiving.
The PTO Snack Day Google Form was emailed this morning. Please check your email, click on the link, and complete the form to order your child's snack from PTO for Friday, December 1st.
From SVCS: Due to a police situation in St. Bernice, buses WILL NOT be allowed to travel on any roads other than SR71. If your student is picked up at your home or any stop other than SR71, you will need to bring them to an intersection on SR71 to meet the buses. This is for buses #2 and #6. This does not include Jonestown Rd.
Tomorrow is "SV Gives Back Day" at Van Duyn. Our students can wear pajamas to school for $1. All proceeds will benefit the Clinton Clothing Closet.
Congratulations to our Van Duyn Spell Bowl Team for their 1st place finish on Monday evening. We are very proud of our team and coach, Ms. Hamrick. Way to go, Vikings!
