"The Wildcat Den" (SVCS Pre-K Program) is now accepting applications for enrollment for the 2024-25 school year! You may find all of the information by going to svcs.k12.in.us and clicking on "Explore" at the top of the page. Once you click on "Explore", "The Wildcat Den Pre-K Program" has its own folder at the bottom of this page. One of the documents is the application packet, and the other document is the handbook for the program. The handbook has all of the information regarding times, fees, etc. This program will operate on the SVCS school calendar. You may also stop by the Superintendent's Office (800 Wildcat Dr.) to turn in your application for enrollment, or to pick-up a printed packet. If you have any questions, please email [email protected].
Pre-K Update: Pending approval of the Pre-K handbook, we will open enrollment for Pre-K on Tuesday, April 16th. We will be offering a three day a week program (MWF) and five day a week program. We will have 15 spots available for the three day program and 30 for the five day program. Both programs will be full-day programs. Tuition fees and handbook will be released upon approval.
Don't forget Monday, April 8, is an eLearning Day for South Vermillion due to the solar eclipse!
This is no joke! Did you know that Vermillion County has several walking trails available to the public? SV's Wellness Committee encourages you to go check them out! https://5il.co/2h9s9
Just a reminder that our Pre-K Information Night for the 2024-25 school year begins at 5:00 p.m. tonight in the SVHS Library (Enter at Door #1 of SVHS). We will share information to begin the meeting and then have some time for questions.
Congratulations to Golden Apple Award recipient Mrs. Lisa Eilbracht, our 3rd/4th grade High Ability teacher at Van Duyn Elementary School. We are very proud of you!
We appreciate Vermillion County 4-H! Our students learn so much from this organization starting at a very young age!
Good afternoon! Per the CDC and Vermillion County Health Department, testing positive for COVID will no longer require a 5-day isolation. COVID will now be treated like all other respiratory viruses and return to work and school will now be based on symptoms and/or symptom improvement, along with being fever-free for 24 hours without the use of medication.
*If you are symptomatic and test positive for COVID, you can return to normal activities when, for at least 24 hours, you have started to feel better and your overall symptoms are improving. As with any virus, you should also be fever free for 24 hours without the use of medication before returning to school.
Taking additional precautions for 5 days upon return, such as masking and distancing, should be considered but will not be required.
Hope you all have a great weekend!
Mark your calendar! SVCS PreK Info Night coming up. Please help us spread the word!
THE QUEEN of 🍇 IS READING TONIGHT'S CHAPTER AT SVMS!
The Hidden in Plain Sight (HIPS) trailer will be parked at SVMS on Wednesday, Feb. 28th from 2:00-5:00 PM. Parents/guardians of SV students are invited to stop by for a 15-minute tour of the trailer.
This is a traveling, hands-on, interactive exhibit/program designed to help adults recognize unfamiliar signs of substance misuse or risky behaviors that are often "hidden in plain sight".
The HIPS Trailer is sponsored by Hamilton Center.
GREAT NEWS!! Superintendent Chapman will be reading Chapter 6 of The Story Puppy aloud in the Superintendent's Office tonight at 6PM (800 Wildcat Drive)! Help us spread the word! Bring your book, or just come along and listen! Also! Our culminating event is one week away! #OneSchoolOne Book
The 2024-2025 Academic Calendar was approved at last night's Board Meeting. It is shared below and also on the SV Website. 📆
Good evening,
First of all, thank you for your flexibility with the early release on Friday. We hope you had a safe weekend as the road conditions did worsen throughout the afternoon and evening. We just wanted to remind you that school will operate on a normal schedule tomorrow, February 19th, due to a snow day in January. Thank you and let's have a great week.
Good morning, again!
Due to the inclement weather, the SVCS will be dismissing early today, Friday, February 16th. Elementary students will be dismissed at 12:30 p.m. and secondary students will be dismissed at 1:10 p.m. If you have any questions, please contact your student's school. We will provide an update for this evening's events. Everyone be safe and have a great weekend!
Good morning!
With the likelihood of inclement weather today, we wanted to communicate with all SVCS families the POSSIBILITY of an early dismissal. We will monitor weather conditions throughout the morning, which will help us to determine when to dismiss. We will send out updates as needed. We hope you have a great Friday! Stay safe!
💻 In some capacity, isn't every day Digital Learning Day? We want our students to know how to use the right technology at the right time (and not just all the technology all the time) so they can thrive in a rapidly changing digital world.
We are excited to now have the Robotics & Automation modules from @PLTWorg in Grade 5 this year. Students are building and testing mobile robots in their STEAM class thanks to a grant from The Giacoletto Foundation. #ProjectLeadTheWay #PLTW
Our K-12 Computer Science programming with Project Lead the Way is empowering our students to develop the knowledge and skills necessary to thrive in an innovation-driven economy. Check out the @PLTWorg modules we offer at each grade level. #PLTW
🐾 Elementary families: SAVE the DATE! This is going to be an exciting evening as we wrap up our One School One Book event together!
