A Shared Commitment to Student Success

The South Vermillion Community School Corporation Strategic Plan for 2026-2031 reflects a shared commitment to continuously improving education for our students, families, and community. It is designed to guide future decisions and initiatives that help students become confident, prepared, and compassionate leaders.

Built on the foundation of the previous five-year plan, this updated plan reflects high expectations for academic achievement, social and emotional growth, character development, instructional quality, and innovative learning opportunities. It also recognizes the importance of maintaining safe, functional, and future-ready facilities while strengthening partnerships with families, businesses, civic groups, and community agencies.

At its core, this strategic plan is grounded in the corporation’s mission, vision, and beliefs. It is a commitment to student success today, tomorrow, and into the future.

A high-quality education that empowers every student to reach their full potential and become a lifelong learner.

Our Purpose and Principles

At the heart of our organization lies a commitment to purpose, guided by a clear mission, an inspiring vision for the future, and core values that define who we are and drive everything we do.

The South Vermillion Community School Corporation provides academic and social experiences that nurture the potential of all students to be productive, creative, and moral citizens.

The South Vermillion Community School Corporation is the pride of the community, where students and staff are safe, secure, responsible, life-long learners.

We believe in a safe and secure environment, shared responsibility for education across the community, opportunity for every student to reach full potential, high academic and life-skill expectations for every learner, and corporation-wide alignment of curriculum, instruction, and assessment.

Principles for success

  1. A challenging curriculum aligned to the Indiana Academic Standards should promote higher-level thinking, responsible citizenship, and the physical, social, and cognitive growth of each child.
  2. The corporation should measure and assess educational programs, instruction, student performance, teacher effectiveness, finances, community relations, employee relations, and facilities use as part of continuous improvement.
  3. Students deserve a high-quality education where learning styles are appreciated and accountability is paired with support.
  4. The corporation should foster excellence and mutual respect while valuing highly competent and committed employees.
  5. Families and schools share responsibility for each child’s educational progress and should remain active partners through open communication.
  6. The corporation should maintain strong partnerships with community groups, businesses, civic organizations, and local government entities.
  7. Facilities should be well maintained, clean, safe, functional, and aligned to curriculum needs and appropriate community use.
  8. Technology should remain an effective, actively supported tool for teaching, learning, and operational success.
  9. Leadership should remain committed to the mission, vision, and beliefs of the corporation and secure the resources needed to meet or exceed expectations.
  10. The community should partner with the school corporation to support funding, responsible resource use, and fiscal accountability at every level.

We are committed to:

  • Providing a safe and welcoming learning environment for all students
  • Recruiting and retaining highly qualified and dedicated educators
  • Offering a diverse and challenging curriculum that meets the needs of all learners
