To alleviate any confusion, SVCS Schools will return to school in-person on Monday, January 4th.

Please be advised that due to the current number of students and staff reported as testing positive and quarantined, SV Schools will return on Monday, January 4th as originally planned. The COVID-19 Dashboard on the SVCS website has been updated to reflect the current numbers.

Tonight's School Board Meeting will be streamed on Youtube at 6:30pm tonight. You can access the stream live or at any time via our SV Youtube Channel. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCNWyoDbnTWAGZPSVbNhYI9g

As we head back into eLearning, we are excited to announce that we've added 4 new meal distribution sites. We will continue to serve meals from SV Middle School, Central, Van Duyn and Ernie Pyle from 10-12. You may also pick-up meals at Hillsdale Firehouse and Universal Post Office from 10-10:45 or Dana Firehouse and Blanford Park from 11-12. SV students and siblings (18 and under) are allowed 1 meal pick up per day. Each bag will contain breakfast and lunch. SV cafeteria managers and staff wish you all a happy holiday season and a healthy start to the new year.

Wifi hot spots will be available at the remote food distribution sites (Blanford, Dana, Hillsdal, Universal) 12/9-12/18 for students.

Due to the High Risk spread currently in Vermillion County and the high absentee rate, all SVCS schools will return to eLearning effective Dec. 9 through Dec. 18.

South Vermillion will follow the newest COVID-19 CDC guidance on quarantines. Quarantine length has been changed from 14 days to 10 days after exposure. Students must remain symptom-free for the full 10 days after exposure prior to returning to school.

UPDATE: Power is back on at Central Elementary School.
Thank you for your patience as we worked through this morning's issue.

Power out at Central, including phone lines. Duke Energy is on the scene and estimates power returning later this morning. Please contact the Supt's. Office for emergencies. Once the power is back on, you will be notified.

As we prepare for our return to school tomorrow, remember to wear your mask, keep your distance, and wash your hands frequently. We need everyone to do their part to keep school open.

Upon returning to school Monday, masks will be required for all students (gr 3-12) and staff. Masks are recommended for students K-2.

All SVCS Schools will return to In-Person instruction Monday, Nov. 30th. We look forward to seeing all students and staff back to the buildings and classrooms.

Starting today (11/13) school meals can be picked up from any of our 5 SV schools from 10-12. Enrolled students and their siblings,18 years of age and under, are eligible.
It is no longer necessary to collect meals from the school where your student is currently enrolled. All student meals can be picked up at one location.
For the safety of your family and our staff please pull up the bus in front of the school of your choice and indicate the number of meals needed. Thank you for supporting South Vermillion Schools and our Food services staff.

We are aware of the power outage in Dana. All SVMS teachers have been made aware to allow those students extra time to complete assignments. Thank you to all the students and parents who have notified us. We are hearing the power is estimated to be back on around 10:45 a.m.
Have a great day!
Mrs. Harris

More than 750 handwritten cards and letters are heading to the U.S. Post Office this afternoon in support of our State Superintendent of Public Instruction Dr. McCormick's request to participate in the annual Holiday Cards for Our Military Challenge. Our students designed amazing cards and messages, and even our CTE Welding class participated! From K thru 12th grade, this writing project was meaningful and memorable. Thank you SV teachers and students! #INthistogether

Our cafeteria staff are busy preparing meals for your students this morning. They will have grab-and-go meals ready for pick up, curbside from your child's school, between 10-12. Parents are allowed to pick up meals without their student being present. Simply provide your child's name to our cafeteria staff. Thank you for supporting our SV cafeterias.

We are excited to announce that, beginning tomorrow, South Vermillion will be participating in the New USDA Waiver that allows ALL students, currently enrolled in our corporation, meals at no charge! This includes breakfast and lunch each school day. Any adult meals, extras or ala carte items will still be your responsibility.
We have been informed that this USDA program is set to expire on December 31st or if we receive notice that funding for the program is no longer available, whichever comes first.
This program is retroactive to the first student day, August 10th. Meals purchased from this date forward will be credited back to your childâs lunch account.
IâD LIKE TO ENCOURAGE OUR VIRTUAL STUDENTS TO PARTICIPATE, AS WELL. If you are interested in picking up meals for your virtual student, please contact your childâs school and ask to speak with the cafeteria manager for ordering and pick up options.
In the event that your childâs school should close for eLearning, we will continue to provide two âgrab and goâ meals each school day.
In addition to this exciting news, I'd like to remind you that applications for state assistance are required each school year for those who qualify. If your student receives free or reduced meals and textbook assistance you are still required to complete an application for this school year. If you have not yet done so, please submit a web application through Harmony or contact your childâs school for a paper copy.
We hope you will encourage your students to eat a nutritious breakfast and lunch at school every day!
Stay Healthy!

SV is currently taking applications for several cafeteria staff positions. If you are interested in joining our crew or substituting in our kitchens please pick up an application at the Superintendent's Office or contact our Food Service Director at 765-832-3551 ext. 2002.Â

MS/HS Virtual School students and parents. Our counselors are wrapping up your enrollment into the courses, which should be finished today. You will receive and email later today, tonight, or at the latest tomorrow morning that says you are enrolled . From there, you can log in and get started. If you need direct help, we will be placing an information document with office hours on the SVCS website under the Virtual School link.

Elementary Virtual School students and parents...you should expect later today, tonight or in the morning that you have been enrolled in Exact Path. Even if you do not receive an email telling you about the enrollment you should login in by tomorrow morning and the courses should be in there. The Exact Path assessments do start at a high level, but the assessment quickly reduces down to the elementary level. This is to find the true gaps in the student's math and reading levels. If they find a question too difficult, just move on to the next question. You should only work on it for 20 -30 minutes at a time, take a break and then come back to it. I would encourage the parents to be with the child but not help them with the questions, we want to find their gaps, if any. We want parents to encourage the students, especially the young ones, who might get worried over the questions that are too hard. This not for a grade so they donât need to worry, just do their best. We have placed a Parent Guide for this on our website in the Virtual School link.

Good morning and welcome back! Please be assured your children will be taken care of as they return to school. Remember to have them "Mask UP". There will be reusable cloth masks for all students at all schools schould they need one.

Virtual School application window has been re-opened for families wanting the virtual option. The window will remain open until 11:59 pm Sunday. SVVS will begin Wed. 8/12. More details to come. Application can be found on the SVCS website.

IDOE is seeking clarification regarding the details of the mask mandate issued by Gov Holcomb. We will provide further guidance as soon as the Executive Order becomes available.

Gov Holcomb has mandated the use of masks, including for schools, at all times. This is not totally unexpected. SVCS will issue a statement on Thursday once we digest this new mandate.

Just a reminder that if you are interested in the SV Virtual School, applications are due by July 29th. The application is on the SVCS website under the Virtual School News.
