Snow day versus eLearning Day

It looks like winter weather is suddenly upon us. With that in mind, when there is a possibility of inclement weather, we have the option of:

1. 2 Hour Delay
2. School Closed - eLearning Day
3. School Closed - Makeup later

eLearning Day website

The intention will be to use eLearning Days on the 1st and 2nd consecutive days due to weather. If there are more than 2 consecutive days, then those days would be closed and made up at a later date (first week of Spring Break). The determination to call either a snow or eLearning day is at the Superintendent's discretion and is outlined in the link to the "Delay/Cancellation/eLearning Procedures above. 

Notifications will be sent regarding delays/closings via School Messenger, the SV website, Twitter, Facebook, and local news.

It is important that parents have contact information up to date in School Messenger. Please view the news article (link) to update School Messenger contacts as well as designating your preferred method of contact using the School Messenger app or website. 

eLearning Student Expectations

  • Connectivity issues on eLearning day - contact eLearning tech support at [email protected] or 765-832-5300 (parent or student may contact).
  • If student/parent doesn’t contact support or the school, assignments are due upon returning to school.
  • Attendance - Parents call in student if sick and unable to complete work.
  • Complete lessons assigned on eLearning day and submit in Canvas
  • Connectivity issues:
    • Complete work placed on device during eLearning day, and then submit upon returning to school.
    • Check with teacher or another classmate to obtain the assignment, complete what you can offline on iPad and digitally submit upon returning to school
    • If able, go to a location with wifi access

Note: Students will not be penalized if they don’t have Internet access, but will be expected to complete alternative assignments or work requiring the Internet while at school.

  • Contact teacher with instructional questions
  • Contact eLearning Support with technical (how to) issues or questions.

Teachers are available during normal school hours via contact info shown in Canvas (please note if there was originally a 2 hour delay and then a closing, then teachers will follow the 2 hour delay schedule).
